The owners of a large Northwest Contemporary home requested a special dining table which would reflect their home’s unique character. The supporting beams of the home were “blow-downs” from the Mt. St. Helen’s eruption and were, therefore, impregnated with the gray volcanic ash. We designed this table to reflect the elegantly casual environment of the home. The dark portions of the table are solid cherry and the gray portions are solid oak, deeply brushed to accentuate the graining and then gray-washed. Since the home is on the water, there also is a hint of a driftwood color in the piece. The juxtaposition of the rich, highly finished cherry with the coarse gray oak is very dramatic.

Wiese Furniture Design created this wall-hanging table for the game room of a client’s waterfront home in response to a need for a surface where one could place drinks or snacks while playing pool or other gaming activities. With no legs to trip over or catch stool legs on, the wall mounted table has proven to be extremely convenient. Reminiscent of the waves outside the home, the steam bent cherry softly curves and expands upward while the deep richness of the granite top crowns this artistic piece.
This solid maple hunt table is not an original design of ours but rather an adaptation of an antique piece that the client saw in a magazine. Sized to serve as a buffet in the client’s dining room, the beautiful detail of this piece lends a touch of gracious times past to an already gorgeous dining room.
