our pieces you will never find the impersonal perfection that computerized
mass production allows but, instead, you will see reflected the wonder of
the human spirit that moves our hands in creating your work of art. The
common thread that runs through the endeavors of any artist is that the
item created from the artists hands and mind contains part of the
artists soul, part of the artists heritage, part of the artists
energy. This soul remains with the creation. This is precisely
why we feel so blessed to have been allowed to share our spirit and the
talents given us with so many others in the last quarter century. Because the finest design must be well executed to be useful, we use only the highest quality solid hardwoods and employ the finest joinery in our construction. Mortise and tenon joinery, biscuit joinery, doweling and dovetailing are all methods we use in producing items which are designed to stand up to the wear and tear of many lifetimes. Extensive machine and hand sanding prepares each surface for finishing. After applying the appropriate stains, each piece is coated with sanding sealer which is then sanded in preparation for application of the lacquer coats. After applying numerous coats of lacquer, the final finish is wet sanded and hand rubbed with buffing media to arrive at the final deep, lustrous appearance. We use various hardwoods in our construction but, philosophically, feel that design precedes wood type. That is, we do not consider the use of multiple types of exotic wood in a piece the equivalent of good design. We let our design dictate the number of different species used. If, as the design reaches its final stages, it calls for the use of exotic woods, we will use them. If not, we wont unless the client wishes the use of a particular wood. |
